Discovery Zone

The Discovery Zone at the Great Yorkshire Show provides a wealth of fun learning opportunities for all the family! Find out more about food, farming and the countryside through fun, engaging experiences that will keep everyone entertained.

Aimed at our youngest Show visitors, the Discovery Zone is a chance to meet animals away from the busy show rings, get creative at cookery and craft workshops, and play shop at our field to fork ‘Mini Fodder’ veg patch and farm shop experience.

Meet farm animals, learn more about our native wildlife and marvel at the birds of prey.

Learn about wildflower meadows and cover crops and why farmers are planning more to help biodiversity.

Be Entertained

Be transformed into your favourite animal by our face painters, visit the fairy’s flower garden or just relax with an ice cream on the hillside overlooking the showground.

All activities in the Discovery Zone are FREE as they are fully funded by The Yorkshire Agricultural Society as part of their charitable activities.

Get Creative

Try your hand at willow weaving, make your very own sausage roll and see how Yorkshire’s famed dry stone walls are expertly put together.
