John Boddy Award
Entries close on 16 May 2022
Yorkshire Agricultural Society, Royal Forestry Society and Forestry Commission are on the hunt for the best new woodland in Yorkshire. £400 and the prestigious John Boddy Rose Bowl trophy will be awarded for a new woodland planted between 2011 and 2021.
This can be:
- Any species
- Planted with or without grant aid
- On previously unplanted land (this may adjoin existing woodland)
- A minimum size of 0.5 ha
The judges will take account of the aims of management as stated on the application form, and will be looking for successful establishment when visiting nominated woods. In all cases, they will expect the planting to adhere to UK Forestry Standard, and will consider good silvicultural practice, landscape enhancement and future positive impact on biodiversity.
