Welcome to the Great Yorkshire Show

Get ready for a jam-packed Great Yorkshire Show 2022, set to take place over four days from Tuesday 12 – Friday 15 July 2022.

The show celebrates agriculture, food, farming and countryside, with traditional competitions and favourites as well as a host of new features which we very much hope you’ll enjoy.

This year we welcome two cattle world congresses which will see farmers from all over the world come to the show to see the best in the business and exchange ideas.

We are honoured that the Patron of the Shorthorn societies The Princess Royal will be attending on Tuesday.

For the first time ever, we will have Sheep Dog Trials taking place twice a day in the Main Ring, with competitors from UK’s four home nations taking part.

Sheep are an integral part of the Yorkshire landscape and there will be plenty to see at the Show, with nearly 350 competitive sheep classes, including two new national breed shows this year for the Dorset Horn and Poll Dorset and Valais Blacknose Sheep societies.

There will be three new showjumping classes this year, with showjumping held in the TopSpec White Rose ring for the first time.

Don’t miss our brand new GYS Stage, based in the former fashion show building, which is sponsored by Daniel Thwaites and hosted by Christine Talbot. Christine will host a chat show with a different farming celebrity each day including: Countryfile presenter Adam Henson (Tuesday), JB Gill from boy band JLS (Wednesday), TV host Matt Baker MBE (Thursday) Yorkshire Shepherdess Amanda Owen (Friday) and Peter Wright of The Yorkshire Vet (every day at 1:30).

For the first time ever, we have launched a GYS Podcast dedicated to the Show which has been produced by radio presenter Pete Egerton – or Podcast Pete as he’s become known! Have a listen here

And finally, we are thrilled that a three-part series dedicated to the Great Yorkshire Show will be back on national television once again this year. Today at the Great Yorkshire Show will be on Wednesday 13th July and Thursday 14th July with a 90 minute highlights package at the weekend on Channel 5. Last year’s episodes attracted over 3 million viewers which was incredible publicity for the show and our wonderful competitors, team and supporters. Make sure you tune in!

Tickets will be sold in advance only and are now available to purchase.
