GYS Competitor Information 2026
Information for competitors regarding the 2026 Great Yorkshire Show will be available from late March 2026.
Dunnington-Jefferson House – Accommodation
The Yorkshire Agricultural Society has limited on-site accommodation for our livestock exhibitors at the Great Yorkshire Show.
Dunnington-Jefferson (DJ) House is for use solely by exhibitors/stockmen (over the age of 18) at the show. We ask that all interested parties send an ‘Expression of Interest’ form to be eligible for the ballot. Closing date for forms to be received is Friday 1 May 2026.
Bluetongue update 16 June 2025
Please find an updated statement from the Great Yorkshire Show team who would like to reassure its exhibitors that it is working closely with DEFRA/APHA to ensure robust procedures are in place to protect the health and welfare of all livestock coming onto the Showground in Harrogate.
All entries are welcome from livestock exhibitors in England which is in the Restricted Zone for bluetongue.
Because both Wales and Scotland remain in the Clear Zone, the Great Yorkshire Show will not be able to accept entries from exhibitors from Wales and Scotland.
Organisers had taken a dynamic approach to allow entries from all parts of the UK, including extending its entry dates.
Unfortunately, those deadlines have now past although entries remain open for Dairy Cattle until Monday June 30.
As background, the Great Yorkshire Showground was put into the expanded Restricted (Red) Zone for bluetongue on Sunday May 18.
The Show team met with DEFRA/APHA and the Show vets, when the decision was taken to accommodate entries from both the Clear Zone and the Restricted (Red) Zone.
The team is committed to ensuring the classes are accessible to all while taking a dynamic approach regarding the changing status of the boundary and ensuring the health and safety of all livestock exhibiting at the Great Yorkshire Show.
We reserve to right to cancel and return entries at any time up to the Show opening if bluetongue restrictions change before or after Tuesday July 1.
Vaccinated animals are not exempt from the current DEFRA/APHA guidelines and the Showground does not have facilities for on or offsite testing.
Equine Exhibitors 2025
We are delighted to announce our figures for the Equine section and take this opportunity to thank all of our exhibitors for their ongoing support.
Please note, that although some classes may have large numbers entered, this does not mean everyone will come forward and therefore we suggest that you do not plan your day based on these figures.
Another reminder, that although some shows & events may differ in their rules, we are operating under the 6-month ruling for Equine Flu.
If you have booked a stable and no longer need it, please email Billie (billiew@yas.co.uk) in order for us to resale your stable and issue a full refund. We advise that anyone buying a stable through any alternative source, should be aware that scammers often try to sell things they do not actually have meaning you could be a victim of fraud.
Competitors
Cattle exhibitors please note that the Great Yorkshire Show is located in a TB Low Risk Area and is a Non-Exempt Show for the purpose of TB Movement requirements.
Equine Flu
It is mandatory that all horses/ponies/donkeys are fully vaccinated against Equine Influenza (Flu) within the 6 months directly before the Show.
Passports may be inspected at any time; any horse without a valid vaccination protocol or owner/exhibitor unable to produce a valid passport will lead to immediate eviction of that horse/pony/donkey from the showground.
(Obviously foals are exempt so long as they are less than 6 months old and the mare is fully vaccinated)
Stables
Due to the high demand for stables, please be aware that we operate a waiting list and please let us know should stables be no longer required. Any horse box passes and/or stables sold by other means (including social media) will be null & void
