We aim to make visiting the Great Yorkshire Show a comfortable and enjoyable experience for people with disabilities and welcome any observations on further improvements.
Sainsbury's car park is the designated disabled car park for the Great Yorkshire Show.
Access to the car park is from Wetherby Road and directions will be clearly indicated on the direction signs on all designated routes.
Disabled permits must be clearly visible and access will only be granted to registered disabled drivers or their carers. Parking spaces cannot be reserved.
There is a pedestrian gateway from Sainsbury's car park to the Orange Entrance and a pick up point in the car park outside Orange Gate, opposite the Amenity Site on Wetherby Road.
The majority of walkways are of hard-standing and most public buildings and animal areas have ramps or are accessible by wheelchairs. We also try to ensure that the grass avenues are well rolled to aid access around the Show. However, the Showground is on a sloping site which means that some degree of effort is required to push a wheelchair around the Great Yorkshire Show.
Tickets for Disabled Visitors & Carers
We welcome disabled visitors to the Great Yorkshire Show. Disabled visitors of all ages may bring a carer free of charge. Carer tickets are issued on the understanding that disabled visitors would be unable to attend the Show without a carer.
You can request a carer ticket in advance by calling the ticket line on 01423 541222 (open until 5 July 2017) or on any of our gates on the days of the show. Both in advance and on the day you will be required to supply proof of care requirement, such as Personal Independence Payment, Disability Living Allowance, Carers Allowance, Blue Badge Registration number.
